Les Orris Blanc
This incredible Grenache Blanc/Roussanne blend from 150-400m altitude and schist soils was fermented wild and spent six months in 300L barrels (25% new). Rich and creamy with the wood very well integrated and framing the herbal-hewn fruit, so impressive at this young age! Lovely pear, spice, lemon verbena and revving stony spice on the finish, this is complete now in youth and will impress with some years in the cellar.
The name in Catalan refers to the many shepherds’ huts that surround their vineyards which are constructed from the local slate. The name is a strong evocation of the poor local pastoral tradition. The Orris range (red and white) are the domaine’s flagship fine wines.
